I’m in the midst of planning Lively’s first birthday (like how?!) and am so excited to celebrate our greatest gift and the wonderful journey she has taken us on this last year! 💕 I’ll give you one guess at the theme for her party (hint: drawing inspo from the Caitlin Wilson Design floral wallpaper in her room! 🌸)
Yesterday, I put out a request on Instagram for my mama friends to give me tips or things they’d recommend doing to commemorate baby’s first birthday, and as expected they, did not disappoint. I got so many sweet and thoughtful ideas that I thought I’d share them here in case they might be helpful for you too:
- Make a quick 3-5 minute highlight reel of favorite photos/videos paired with a special song
- Photo garland with pictures from baby’s first year
- Getting an engraved cake knife with name and birthdate on one side… to be used ever year for birthday cake and then for wedding day too! (love this one!)
- Have baby’s profile made into a custom Le Papier Studio necklace (on my wishlist for my upcoming birthday in February!)
- Keep the party small – no need for tons of kiddos and craziness, goody bags, games, etc. at this stage (I definitely agree with this one. Lively’s party will be just family and a few close friends)
- Balloons are a big hit at this stage – tie it to their wrist and watch them swing their arms around
I’m working hard to get her baby book finished by her party so that our guests can look through it. I’d love to have a highlight reel video done too, but that might have to wait until after the party. I’ll definitely keep you guys posted on the party details. So far I’ve got the invitation done, cake, cookies and flowers ordered. Still need to finalize food (light lunch type stuff) and some drinks (will probably do an infused water and some tea), order some balloons and then I’ll pretty much be done! Pictures and details coming soon! 🙂

Awww I did the highlight video with Lincoln Brewster’s Made New playing for Ryan. It still makes us tear up. We played it at his small party at our home and our guests loved it. For Emmy, I had her baby book done (except for the last pages for her 1st bday) and again, it was a nice thing for guests to enjoy since the party was small again at my parents home. It’s such a special time. ♥️ Enjoy it mama. You’re doing great and I love your blog. Stay authentic always because the internet needs sweet spirits like yours! Xo
