Over the last few years, I’ve developed quite the love for gardening. I’ve tried my hand at a variety of flowers and vegetables, but growing flowers from seed is by far my favorite. From colorful cosmos and vibrant zinnias to fluffy hydrangeas and towering sunflowers, cultivating these beauties and creating alongside my Creator has been nourishing for my soul.
While you don’t need a ton of tools to grow a successful cut flower garden, I have found having a few key things on hand to be helpful and have rounded them up below.
Do you have a garden? If so, what do you grow? I’d love to know!
- Straw Hat: to keep you protected from the sun (and it doesn’t hurt to look cute while gardening. 🙂 Love the white bow detail and the $29 price tag on this one.
- Clippers: reduce hand strain with these clippers that give you an effortless clean cut while pruning florals.
- Garden Hand Tool Set: a necessity for cultivating tough soil and removing weeds, etc.
- Garden Gloves: I always wear garden gloves when doing every day garden tasks. How cute are these floral ones?!
- Pink Hose: The best garden hose ever in my opinion! It’s lightweight, doesn’t kink and best of all it’s not an eye sore sitting on the side of my house. It’s adorable!
- Zinnia Seeds: my favorite flower to grow from seed! I’ve bought seeds from Botanical Interests, Renee’s Garden and Floret Flower and all have produced the loveliest blooms. As far as varieties go, I love the “Cut and Come Again” zinnias and currently am growing a hedge of “California Giants” on the side of the house. “Persian Carpet” zinnias are fun to grow in the fall. Here’s a great variety pack if you want to try some different kinds.
- Shovel: you’ll want a lightweight and versatile shovel like this one to clear the area for your bed or tilling up soil before planting.
- Wicker Basket: whenever I’m planning to cut a lot of blooms at once, I always bring a basket (a white bucket works just fine too!) to carry everything in. Mine is currently sold out but this is a close second! These baskets are also great for farmer’s market trips or any of your summer travels.
- Blush Pink Garden Boots: these are probably one of my favorite Amazon scores. They look like Hunter boots, are the perfect blush pink color and only $38.
