A sweet family member is moving into a new house and she asked that I help her with her new living room. I jumped at the opportunity and had SO much fun helping her pull this space together. The living room is open concept with lots of natural light, hardwood floors, light gray paint and white cabinets – a dream blank canvas! She wanted the room to be light, bright and calming while also being kid friendly. Here’s where we landed…
Sofa: This 80″ sofa in the Crypton fabric in color Oatmeal. I love a light colored sofa, but they’re not the most kid friendly. Not only can the slipcover be removed and put into the wash on this one, but the fabric has a special technology so that spills bead up, stains clean easily, and odors don’t cling. Super excited about this! Tip: we watched for a sale and got it 25% off.
Swivel Chairs: These upholstered chairs in Linen French Blue. Not slipcovered and fabric is not Crypton, but we felt good about the color and texture of the fabric hiding most stains. Tip: they run sales frequently so be on the lookout for 20%-25% off.
Coffee Table: This is actually the same coffee table we have in our living room that was suggested by my interior designer friend, Ashley. We love it! We have a toddler who is constantly spilling water on it and/or trying to climb on it and you’d never know it. It’s super sturdy and well made and I highly recommend it.
Rug: If you have little ones or pets, you need to consider one of these rugs. You can literally take them outside and bleach/hose them off and they’ll look brand new.
Side Tables: We went with these glass & gold side tables to help balance the large wood coffee table and give contrast to the room (another tip I learned from my friend, Ashley!). These come at a great price point too.
White Lamps: We’ll add white lamps to the side tables but will likely pick them up from Home Goods, but I really like this, this and this.
Pillows: The blue pillows with white trim (currently on sale) are by my Insta-friend, Lauren, and the blush leopard and floral pillow is by one of my favorite designers, Caitlin Wilson. I have her wallpaper in Lively’s nursery. I chose this combo because they add the perfect pop of color to a neutral palette and will work no matter the season of the year.
I think it’s classic and elegant while still being comfy and cozy. Once she gets moved in, we’ll work on warming up the space even more with accessories like art work, pictures, plants, baskets, and a cozy throw blanket. I’ve linked a few favorites below!
