I haven’t really shared this with anyone (other than Todd who hears me complain everyday!) but about a year ago, I injured my middle/lower back. I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but I’m pretty confident it was caused from improperly lifting Lively into and out of her crib and/or carseat. Over the last few months I have taken steps towards seeking comfort and relief from the pain – seeing a chiropractor, staying consistent with exercise, using a topical CBD cream on the affected area, lifting Lively properly using my legs, being mindful of my posture, wearing supportive sneakers, etc. Recently I started searching for a cushioned mat for the kitchen since that is where I’m standing the most throughout the day and when I notice the most pain. Thankfully, in God’s perfect timing, my blogger friend, Meg of For the Long Hall, reached out and asked if I’d be interested in testing out her new NamaMat from her collaboration with The House of Noa. She had no idea I was in the market for one and I literally jumped at the opportunity to try hers out!
Meg’s beautiful mat has been in our kitchen for almost a month now and it’s safe to say it will be “for the long hall” (see what I did there?) 🙂 . It’s simply beautiful, super practical and amazingly comfortable. It looks like an heirloom rug but feels like a cloud underneath your feet. It’s a total game changer and our whole family loves it! Todd thinks it’s awesome, Lively loves to play on it and, most importantly, it’s provided a noticeable amount of relief for my back when I’m standing at the kitchen sink.
The mat is available in 2 sizes to fit different spaces within your home. This is the 20×48 size (larger of the two) and I love having the wider standing area that extends beyond the sink. It has a slip resistant bottom so it won’t move under your feet (a pet peeve of mine) and it’s non-toxic, spill proof and can be wiped clean.
In addition to the support the mat has provided for my back, I also love the look it’s added to our kitchen! Inspired by Meg’s favorite coastal getaway in Kennebunkport, Maine (on my bucket list!), the Seaside pattern combines the calming blue and cream tones of Maine with all the vibes of a hard-to-find vintage rug. It’s the perfect touch of classic American style and I absolutely love the way it compliments the space.
Other features that make this mat amazing:
- Wipes clean & spill resistant
- Welded bevel edge to prevent tripping
- Super comfy & promotes better posture
- Looks like an heirloom rug
- Slip resistant bottom surface
- Potty proof if you have pets
- Made in the USA!
While I’ve loved having my MH X House of Noa mat under my feet at the kitchen sink, it would also be perfect in a laundry room, an office/workspace or any highly used area that needs a little more comfort. They are also releasing the Seaside pattern on House of Noa’s new Everly Mat in early spring. It will come in two sizes, one that’s great for picnics, beach trips and park concerts, and a mini version that’s perfect under a high chair for simplified cleanups (got my eye on that one!).
If you’ve been on the hunt for a good kitchen mat that’s both pretty and practical, or if you spend most of your day on your feet and could use some extra support, I cannot recommend Meg’s mat from House of Noa enough. Your feet and back will thank you! I’m so thankful for the relief it’s provided me and am hopeful it will continue to aid in my full recovery.
PS – I think this would make an AMAZING Christmas gift for your mom, mother-in-law or to add to your own wishlist. 🙂
