I love the idea of gifting kids quality books as presents vs. toys, and am always on the hunt for ones that can help communicate the awesome truth of God’s love for His children. With Christmas just around the corner, I’ve rounded up a list of Christ-Centered Christmas Books for you to enjoy with your children (or gift to your nieces, nephews and god-children) that help explain the REAL meaning of Christmas and God’s greatest gift of all: the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.
- What is Christmas?: This book lists all the things that Christmas might be about, only to conclude that it is truly about celebrating the birth of Jesus, our Savior. Great for ages 2-5.
- Jesus Calling The Story of Christmas: Teach your children the story of Christmas starting from creation! Children will discover that God always had a plan for Christmas even from the beginning.
- This is the Christmas Story: My friend got this for Lively last year and it’s one we LOVE and read all year long.
- Little His Majesty: this is a new one we are adding to our library this year and I’m so excited! It’s about the characters from the 12 days of Christmas and how they get to meet His Majesty.
- Christmas in the Manger: With a simple, lyrical text and radiant artwork, this book is perfect for the youngest child to be a part of the wonder of the Nativity.
- A Birthday Party for Jesus: A heartwarming reminder to children that Christmas isn’t about Santa or asking for presents; it’s about celebrating Jesus’s birthday.
- M is for Manger: Travel through the alphabet with this beautiful rhyming storybook that tells the story of Jesus’ birth. Begin with the angel who tells Mary that she is God’s chosen vessel and follow along until you reach the zillions of stars that paled in comparison to the star that announced the birthplace of the newborn King.
- Room for a Little One: A lovely and sweet little story from the animals’ point of view surrounding Jesus.
- Song of the Stars: I have heard so many wonderful things about this book. It’s written by the same author as the Jesus Storybook Bible (amazing) and have no doubt it’s a beautifully written Christ-centered story.
- The Christmas Promise: A captivating retelling of the Christmas story showing how God kept His promise to send a new King. Sweet illustrations, faithful, Bible-centered story-telling!
- The Christmas Baby: This would be a great gift for “Baby’s 1st Christmas!”
- God Gave Us Christmas: You cannot go wrong with any of the books in this series! This enchanting tale provides the perfect opportunity to help young children celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and to discover how very much God loves them.

I also really adore the Giving Manger book. It’s an Advent activity that shifts the focus of the season back to giving. I can’t read it without crying!
