If I had to name a few of the details I always keep an eye out for when shopping, it would be: classic styles that can transcend fads and seasons, versatility, unique feminine details, and fabric quality. From the moment I first spotted the Dudley Stephens line of fleecewear on Instagram a year ago, I just knew it would check all the boxes on my list. This post is not sponsored, but after wearing their Park Slope Turtleneck non-stop this fall season, I was inspired to share more about the brand and why I’ve become a huge fan.
This fashion-forward fleece has quickly become one of my most-worn (and loved!) clothing purchases in a long time. The stand up collar and natural blush color make it classic, feminine and polished with minimum effort. It is insanely soft, effortlessly chic, non-wrinkling, easy-to-wash, sustainably made from recycled water bottles that are spun into yarn (amazing) and locally made in Brooklyn, NY. I also love that Dudley Stephens is a female-owned, family business, founded by sisters Lauren Stephens and Kaki McGrath, who grew up mostly wearing cozy fleece jackets and wanted to reimagine fleece in an elevated-for-everyday way.
The versatility of this turtleneck blows any other item in my wardrobe out of the water. You can pair the top with leggings/joggers for lounging around the house or running errands, throw it on with jeans and sneakers for a casual daytime look, or dress it up with white jeans or a skirt for date night. It is truly a gem in my closet and I’m looking forward to adding this color next, and getting Lively one to match!. Also, be prepared to receive lots of compliments. Every time I wear it I have people stop me to say how pretty my top is and then they’re always blown away when I tell them it’s fleece made from recycled water bottles. 🙂
As I continue to transition to a non-toxic lifestyle, I have been paying attention more than ever to the fabrics on my body and where/how the materials are made. My wardrobe is far from sustainable and may never be 100%, but I’m doing my best to choose wisely little by little and am thankful for brands like Dudley Stephens making eco-friendly clothing comfortable AND chic!
A few questions I’ve gotten about the top:
What size did you get?
I’m wearing a small. I am typically a 2/4 in tops and a 34A cup size and the small fits TTS. If you like your tops roomier or if you live somewhere cold and think you’ll want to add another layer underneath, I would size up. If you’re expecting, the longer Cobble Hill Turtleneck is perfect during pregnancy and beyond.
Does your makeup get on the collar?
I’ve noticed a little bit of foundation on the inside of the collar before but it’s not where anyone else could see it plus it blends in with the natural blush color… might be more noticeable on the white. However, the fleece is stain resistant and washes beautifully so the little bit you might get on the collar will come right out.
Is the natural blush color like a light camel?
I would say it’s more of a peach color. It’s the perfect light neutral.
Is it worth the money?
I’ll be honest, I was hesitant to purchase the Park Slope because of the price. I admired the top for almost a whole year and peppered my friends Claire and Victoria with a zillion questions before I finally pulled the trigger this fall. Now after having worn it many times over the last few months, I can tell you that it really is worth the investment ($158). ESPECIALLY if you live somewhere with cold winters. It was literally the only thing I wore on my recent trips to frigid Boston and NYC and I’m so thankful I had it to keep me warm. The stand up collar provided the perfect amount of neck warmth that I didn’t even need a scarf.
I cannot recommend the Dudley Stephens line of fleecewear enough! You won’t regret getting one because you’ll wear it all fall & winter, support a female-owned/family business and look effortlessly chic.
