Now that Lively is three and we needed her crib for the new baby’s nursery, it was officially time for her to transition to a big girl bed. I chose to do a daybed to give her more space to move and play since her room also functions as a play room. I’m so happy with how it turned out and excited to share the details with you!
When selecting furniture for our home, I look for classic pieces that are well made and can transcend changing fads and seasons. I wanted her daybed to not only withstand the toddler years, but grow with her and work in any style room should we move it into another space later. We custom designed the bed with my friend Home Proper Interiors who had so many great ideas for making it both beautiful and functional. We used a Crypton fabric that repels stains and can be cleaned with soap and water, added a tan ticking stripe piping for interest, and created a custom pleated skirt to hide storage underneath. Here are some similar options:
Phase two of her big girl room is refinishing the handles on a bamboo dresser I found on FBMP, adding a mirror above the dresser (thinking this one or this one), and finish with accessories like lamps and framed art. Will share more as we continue to update!
