I can’t believe we’ve already celebrated Cameron’s first birthday! Weren’t we just bringing him home from the hospital yesterday? As grateful as I am watching my baby grow, there’s a piece of my heart that’s aching ever so subtly too. Wishing I could freeze time a little longer. First birthdays are bittersweet like that. So to make things a little more sweet, we got some cake, cookies, candles, and balloons and had one big, joy-filled celebration!
For the party, I chose a classic, blue and white theme with a little gingham sprinkled in. I know that’s technically not a theme, but I wanted to keep things simple and sweet so the birthday boy could shine! I couldn’t be happier with how it all came together and am excited to share the details with you…
I had so much fun co-designing the invitation with my friends at Namesake Celebrations a.k.a. the party planning dream team! I had a vision for what I wanted the invitation to look like, but I never could find the right thing. Mattye and Rachel brought my vision to life and it completely set the tone for the rest of the festivities. Isn’t it just so classically sweet? There’s also a pink version for a little girl’s birthday.
I sourced most of the decor from Namesake Celebrations – again, party planning dream team! They have truly thought of every detail and made things so easy serving as my “one-stop-shop.” Not only did Cameron’s birthday hat, bib, high chair banner, cake toppers and bubble coordinate perfectly for his party, but they are all beautiful, heirloom pieces that can either be used for future birthday parties or preserved as keepsakes for my future grandchildren.
The milestone birthday chart is from this Etsy shop and the hand/footprint shadowbox and birthday cake plate are from Cowton Clay, another favorite brand for heirloom quality keepsakes. The white scalloped drink bucket is old from Target, and sadly I can’t find anything similar.
We held the party at 3 pm and the menu consisted of a simple vanilla cake, various Jenni’s ice cream flavors and custom cookies. Not serving a full meal took a lot of pressure off and really allowed me to enjoy the party. Aren’t the cookies absolutely adorable?! My friend Rachel is one of the most talented people I know! If you live near Jacksonville, you should definitely check her out!
Few things are cuter than a baby diving into a smash cake. We all gathered round and made a big fuss while he made a big mess. It was perfect!
Cameron is easy to love and so much fun to celebrate! His first birthday was a wonderful day delighting in him and all of God’s goodness that’s taken place in his life over the last year. It’s a beautiful gift to watch him grow and I’m grateful for every second of it!
