If y’all have been reading the blog for a bit or follow me over on instagram, then you’ve probably heard me talk about Primally Pure Deodorant. Over the last year, I have fallen in love with this product and brand and thought it might be helpful to share more of why I think so highly of Primally Pure. I’m going to answer some of the questions I’m often asked and I’ve got a fun giveaway at the end of the post! 🙂
While I was walking through our season of infertility two years ago, I decided to make the switch from synthetic deodorants to a natural/non-toxic version per the recommendation of my wholistic nutritionist. Conventional deodorants contain a boatload of harmful ingredients like aluminum (linked to Alzheimer’s disease and interferes with your estrogen levels), parabens (linked to breast cancer) triclosan (pesticide), propylene glycol (damages your nervous system) just to name a few. Once these toxins are absorbed through your skin and into your bloodstream, they can lead to hormone disruption (hello infertility), reproductive issues, allergies, asthma, ADHD, organ toxicity, and issues like cancer among other diseases.
While making the decision to give up my tried and true Dove antiperspirant in an effort to cleanse my body of toxins was easy, it has been a looonnnggg journey trying to find one that’s healthy for me and my body AND that actually works. Over the years, I’ve tried at least a dozen natural deodorants (mostly purchased from Whole Foods), but they either made me smell worse than my natural BO, gave me a rash or were sticky and didn’t keep me dry. Here’s some of the ones I’ve tried:
Tom’s
Schmidt’s
Ursa Major
Pit Paste
Tarte
Jason
Crystal
Kiss My Face
Dessert Essence
Herban Cowboy
Alba
Little Seed Farm (this one actually worked great I just didn’t like that it was a cream and had to apply with my hands)
After I had Lively and started breast-feeding, I was determined to find one that worked and would be safe for Lively and me. I put out a request for suggestions on Instagram and my blogger friend, Hannah, recommended Primally Pure and told me it was the best she had tried. I’m so glad I decided to give it a shot because she was right – it is truly amazing and what I now believe is the unicorn of natural deodorants! I was hesitant to say anything about it at first because there have been other natural deodorants that I thought were great and then after using them for about three months they either stopped working or I developed a severe rash (due to the baking soda). I have been using Primally Pure’s deodorant for almost a year now and not only do I continue to smell great, but it keeps me dry and has caused zero skin irritation. Primally Pure checks all the boxes for me and I recommend it to everyone any chance I get!
If you’ve been thinking about trying a natural deodorant for the first time or have been burned (literally) by some of the ones you’ve tried in the past, I highly recommend trying Primally Pure. They’ve also been so kind to let me extend a discount code to any of my friends who want to give it a try: use code MYCAH10 to receive 10% off your first order.
Here’s some questions I’m often asked:
Does it make you sticky?
Not at all. I stay dry all day, even while working out.
Does it give you a rash?
The reason you get a rash with most natural deodorants is because they contain baking soda. Pit Paste completely tore my skin up. While Primally Pure’s deodorant does contain baking soda, it is a much smaller amount than most natural deodorants. I’m very sensitive to baking soda and have had zero skin irritation with Primally Pure.
Does it make you smell bad?
I feel like so many natural deodorants made me smell even worse than my natural body order. Not the case with Primally Pure. It actually makes me smell good.
What is your favorite scent?
My favorite scent is Blue Tansy and I think it smells like a spa. 🙂
Is it safe while pregnant/nursing?
Absolutely! The deodorant only has a few ingredients that are completely gentle and non-toxic that are safe for you and baby.
Is it sold in stores?
No. You have to order it from Primally Pure’s website.
How often do you buy it?
I signed up for their subscription service and have it delivered every other month (this basically takes away the shipping fee). This timing has worked out perfectly for me as I’m usually just finishing up one deodorant as the new one arrives.
What is the texture like?
It’s soft and creamy. It goes on smooth and clear and does not stain my clothes. It applies and blends very well in my opinion.
What other Primally Pure products do you like?
I’m also a huge fan of their:
Baby Balm (I use this on Lively’s dry skin and as a lip balm for me)
I’ve had so many friends and family switch over to Primally Pure and they’ve all loved it. If you divide to give it a try, I’d love to hear what you think. And don’t forget to use code MYCAH10 to receive 10% off your purchase!

I really want to try this! I’ve tried many other natural deodorants and none worked for one reason or another so I just went back to my old faithful Secret that’s probably killing me (jk. But not great) Thanks for the recommendation!

I’d like to try it! I too have went through quite a few natural deodorants that stop working after a little while or don’t help at all.

I’d love to try Primally Pure deodorant! I currently use Native but am interest in seeing how the two compare. While it has definitely improved over time, Native doesn’t keep me completely dry.

I’d love to try it! Going through IVF I’m trying to switch all of my products to cleaner ones.

I would love to try the Blue Tansy Deodorant!!!! I have tried so many natural deodorants with the same problem you’ve had. I have gone back and forth whether to order this or not. My husband and I had to go through IUI and during the process I worked on eliminating products 1 by 1 and turning to more natural. I actually order the self tanner you recommended and love it!!!! I’m a huge St. Tropez user and had a really hard time finding a natural tanner that didn’t smell or turn me orange. Ok sorry such a long comment but I love your blog and would love to try this deodorant!!! I plan on trying the dry shampoo from primally pure next 🙂

Must try! I recently switched to natural and am currently testing out Kopari. It does the job, but the texture and visibility leave much to be desired.

I’d love to try Primally Pure! I’ve been trying to find a great non-toxic, natural deodorant that actually works. I’m trying to detox from my go-to clinical strength deodorant because of the hormone disruption. I just picked up Primal Paste, and so far, it’s worked the best, but I feel sticky and I’m not a fan of the baking soda “grit”.

Oh goodness! This couldn’t have come at a better time!!! I’ve been desperately searching for a natural deodorant for me and my daughter (I’ve tried a ton too, some of the same as you) but nothing has stopped the stink 😬 I was just about to give up but keep seeing you posting about this that I have to give it a try. It is a little more than I’ve paid but if it works, it will be worth it. Thanks for the chance! 🤞🏻
