Are you on team apple or pumpkin when it comes to fall recipes? I’m clearly team pumpkin, as evidenced here, here and here, but this year I’m all about the apple recipes!
Sweet and cinnamon-spicy, this apple pie protein smoothie combines all the classic flavors of fall. It’s dairy free, grain free, vegan, nut free and literally tastes like liquid apple pie while still being low in sugar, high in fiber, healthy fat and protein – it follows Kelly Leveque’s Fab4 Smoothie Method which I’m a big fan of.
I wish we had an apple orchard in driving distance of Tallahassee. I’m so envious of my New England friends who can hop in the car and go pick apples on a whim. Todd and I are headed to Boston next month and I’ve been trying to figure out a way to squeeze a nearby apple orchard visit into our trip. We clearly can’t take them back to Florida with us, but I still think it would be fun to walk around a real apple orchard for a little bit. Have you been apple picking? Would love to hear about it in the comments below!

- 1 tbsp organic ground flax seed
- 1 tbsp Sunbutter
- ½ tsp apple pie spice
- 1 cup unsweetened nut or seed milk (I like using my homemade pumpkin seed milk)
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I like this one for plant-based)
- Place all ingredients in a high powered blender and blend until smooth.
