Rounded up some items that are giving me major spring garden inspiration right now. Do you have a garden? If so, what do you grow? I’d love to know!
Over the last few years I’ve tried my hand at a variety of flowers and vegetables, but growing flowers from seed is by far my favorite. From colorful cosmos and vibrant zinnias to fluffy hydrangeas and towering sunflowers, cultivating these beauties and creating alongside my Creator has been nourishing for my soul.
I’ve been thinking about doing some gardening posts and was curious what you’d like to see. How to start a garden for beginners? Easy to grow flowers and where to buy them? I’m definitely no expert, but am happy to share what I’ve learned the last few years. Would love any suggestions you have!
- Straw Hat: to keep you protected from the sun (and it doesn’t hurt to look cute while gardening. 🙂 Love the white bow detail and the $29 price tag on this one.
- Garden Hand Tool Set: I spotted these blue and white striped hand garden tools in the Target dollar section last week and could’t resist. They come in a set of 4 (gardening fork, trowel, hand cultivator and weeder) and seem to be sturdy and good quality even though they’re only $12.
- A Year in Flowers Book: Floret’s first book, Cut Flower Garden, was a big reason I started my little backyard cut flower garden. Their new book teaches you how to buy, style, and present seasonal flower arrangements for every occasion.
- Watering Can: is this not the prettiest watering can? Ideal for indoor plants or if you’re like me and have a handful of flowers your hose can’t get to.
- Zinnia Seeds: my favorite flower to grow from seed! I’ve bought seeds from Botanical Interests, Renee’s Garden and Floret Flower and all have produced the loveliest blooms. As far as varieties go, I love the “Cut and Come Again” zinnias and am planning to grow another hedge of “California Giants” on the side of the house this summer. “Persian Carpet” zinnias are fun to grow in the fall. Here’s a great variety pack if you want to try some different kinds.
- Scalloped Pot: I can’t resist a good scallop detail. These pots are hand-made in Italy and will patina over time.
- Shovel: you’ll want a lightweight and versatile shovel like this one to clear the area for your bed or tilling up soil before planting.
- Garden Gloves: I always wear garden gloves when doing every day garden tasks. How cute are these floral ones?!
- Pink Hose: The best garden hose ever in my opinion! It’s lightweight, doesn’t kink and best of all it’s not an eye sore sitting on the side of my house. It’s adorable!
- Wicker Basket: whenever I’m planning to cut a lot of blooms at once, I always bring a basket (a white bucket works just fine too!) to carry everything in. This basket is also great for farmer’s market trips or any of your spring/summer travels.
- Blush Pink Garden Boots: these are probably one of my favorite Amazon scores. They look like Hunter boots, are the perfect blush pink color and are under $30.
